Great Britain to be offered basketball place at 2012 Olympics

World basketball chief Patrick Baumann has hinted that Great Britain will be given a place at the 2012 Olympics. British men's and women's teams have been preparing with no guarantee that they will compete.Baumann wants Britain to become a 'basketball nation' after the London Games and added: 'I will be writing to the British Basketball Federation setting out the specific areas where we would like to see progress and if these are satisfied then FIBA see no reason why Team GB cannot compete in 2012.
