Light-welterweight Stalker beat Russia's Alexander Solyanikov 17-9 to book his place in the quarter-finals, automatically qualifying for the Games. It was close after the first round Stalker and Solyanikov level at 3-3, but the Briton took a two-point lead in the second, before easing to victory.

Luke Campbell, who fights at 56kg, became the second boxer to qualify for a guaranteed place at London 2012 defeating Algeria's Mohamed Amine Ouadahi. Another typically accomplished display from Campbell saw him sail into the quarter finals and seal his place at the Olympic Games. Edging into a one-point lead at the end of the first, Campbell used to speed and movement around the ring to evade the Algerian and counter with the left.

Campbell’s opponent was penalised for slapping in the second, which gave Campbell a four-point cushion going into the last. The Algerian halved the deficit in the last, despite a strong last round performance from the man from Hull, but it wasn't enough as the bout finished 11:9.

Khalid Yafai and Andrew Selby both progressed to the quarter-finals meaning Team GB will definitely have a flyweight competing at London 2012, and the pair could end up having to box off for the single 52kg place.
Both were in imperious form reaching the last eight, Yafai easing home 27-15 over Mexico's Elias Emigdio and Selby easing away to beat tough Thai Chatchai Butdee 25-12.

Both Yafai and Selby have the chance to secure Olympic qualification in Baku by winning the world title. Otherwise, they will box off at some point likely to be early next year. Middlesbrough heavyweight Simon Vallily was beaten 16-10 by Algeria's Chouaib Bouloudinats, while flyweight Michael Conlan became Ireland's third qualifier with a fine win over French second seed Nordine Oubaali.

Anthony Ogogo was unable to repeat his win yesterday and went out to the Brazilian boxer Esquiva Falcao Florentino at the last 16 stage. However, all is not lost for Ogogo. Under AIBA's qualification rules, if Falcao subsequently goes on to claim a place in the 75kg final, Ogogo, as Falcao's vanquished quarter-final opponent, will also qualify.
