British Olympics chief says London 2012 on track

The head of the British Olympic Association says preparations for the London Olympics are on schedule and on budget to deliver a "fantastic games."BOA chief executive Andy Hunt told The Associated Press that he welcomed the British government's decision Wednesday to keep the 2012 budget unchanged despite sweeping cuts to reduce the country's deficit. Hunt said the Olympic budget of 9.3 billion pounds included 7.3 billion pounds for the regeneration of East London.

"It would be crazy to cut that off," said Hunt, speaking at a meeting of national Olympic organizations in Acapulco. "I think a two billion pound investment for staging the games feels about right and appropriate for what's going to be a fantastic games."
